Kohima, Feb 10 (NEPS):
Nagaland Minister for Roads and Bridges G Kaito Aye said the Zubza-Phesama Road Project, which will be a Kohima bypass, has already been approved by the Government of India.
And they had already started works for land acquisition for this project, he said while talking to NEPS here today.
Stating that the Zubza-Phesama Road would not only give socio-economic development boost to the villagers but it is also vital in view of the heavy traffic congestion in the State capital, he said.
The Minister stated once the Zubza-Phesama road was constructed, there would be huge ease to traffic congestion in the State capital.

Disclosing that many new road projects, some of them are being converted to National Highways, are in pipeline, Kaito said they had submitted number of proposals of the urgent necessity of new road constructions in the state to the Central Minister during the recently held All India PWD Ministers' Conference at Delhi.
He said they had requested the Central Minister for conversion of Nagaland's two State Highways to National Highways, which is Tuensang-Tizit connecting Samalguri in Assam side and the other Mokokchung-Marani.
"Although the Minister (Center) was of the view that no new road projects would be taken up, I stressed on the urgent necessity to have some new road projects in Tuensang, Mon and Longlen," he added saying, "Finally the Minister has taken note of our request" .
With regard to much waited four-laning construction in NH 39, Kohima-Dimapur Road, the Minister disclosed that he had thoroughly explained to the Government of India and urged them to expedite the construction.
They had shared that there was difficulty to have four-laning construction.
"But we told them that wherever possible for four lanning, we will go ahead for it and wherever not possible, we will leave it there for re-examination in the future," he added.
"So we explained our position very clear" .
It may be mentioned that the Ministry of shipping, Road Transport and Highways (MOSRT & H) has drawn an ambitious program to improve the road connectivity of the North Eastern Region and connect the region with the rest of the country by high speed, high capacity highway and also improve the intra-region road connectivity.
Under this program, SARDP-NE has been taken up to improve connectivity to State capitals, District Headquarters and improving other important roads.
Kaito disclosed that his department had been entrusted to construct for connectivity particularly for District Headquarter towns under SARDP-NE.
They are Pfutsero-Zhamai, Phek-Pfutsero, Athibung-Khelma, Longlen-Changtongya, Tamlu-Merangkong, Peren-Kohima, Zunheboto-Chakabama and Mon-Tamlu.
These roads would be for four-laning construction, he said.
