Imphal, October 04:
Reacting to the news report under the caption 'Ex-gratia swindled' published on October 4 edition of this paper in which one Md Rashid of Thoubal Khekman Amakcham charged that a sum of Rs 50000 had swindled from the amount of the ex-gratia given in connection with the death of one of his son from electrocution, Branch Manager of Imphal Urban Co-op Bank Limited, BT Road Branch has clarified that the total ex-gratia amount deposited to the bank was only Rs 50000 and not Rs 1 lakhs as alleged.
The amount was deposited in the bank for the first time on August 31, 2005, but as the cheque was bounced, a new cheque of the same amount was deposited again, the bank manager said.
