Chief Minister O Ibobi has noted the impediments and inconveniences experienced by his coalition Government due to the failure of the Congress party to secure absolute majority in the last Assembly elections.
Speaking at the one day Block Level Congress workers' conference of Lamlai Assembly Constituency at Pungdongbam today, the Chief Minister appealed to all the Congress workers to ensure absolute majority for the Congress party in the upcoming elections so as to avoid recurrence of the inconveniences and constraints faced by a coalition Government.
Asserting that all the Congress workers have huge responsibilities to bring back Manipur on the path of development and progress and to restore peace and normalcy in the State, Ibobi said that the people of the State need to repose their faith in the Congress party if they are really intent upon installing a strong, stable and Congress exclusive Government in the State.
He also observed that no party other than Congress would be able to form a stable Government in Manipur.
Disclosing some development plans of the SPF Government, Ibobi conveyed that the DONER Minister PR Kyndiah during his three day visit to the State had assured to build a 50 bedded hospital in every district headquarters of the State and the requisite amount would be sanctioned soon.
He further stated that to bring about equitable development in both the hill and valley districts, half of the State budget may be invested in the districts, if necessary.
Taking part in the conference, Union Minister of Panchayati Raj and Youth Affairs and Sports Mani Shankar Aiyar acknowledged the love and faith of the people put in Congress party which has enabled the Congress led SPF Government to run its full term.
He further appealed to extend Congress rule in the State for another five years by ensuring absolute majority for the party in the forthcoming elections.
Saying that there have been Congress led Governments in both the Centre and the State, Mani-shankar appealed to the people to ensure success of Congress candidate in the Lamlai assembly constituency.
