Imphal, October 04:
Taking strong exception against the killing of a Tangkhul boy by unidentified gunmen in Kohima two days ago, the All Naga Students Association, Manipur (ANSAM) has called every right thinking person to condemn the incident, reports NNN.
ANSAM termed the killing of Shimmei Singnasui, a class-XI student, as inhuman, uncultured and strongly condemnable.
Issuing a statement to Newmai News Network this evening by its information and publicity secretary Sounii Khapa, ANSAM said, "Nagas have passed many phases of inhuman situations in our history.
But killing of (L) Shimmei Singnasui, a student of class-XI studying in Model Higher Secondary School, Kohima, by unidentified gunmen on October 2, 2006, is inhuman, uncultured and condemnable." It further stated that targetting of innocent students to justify the bloodshed in the human society is unethical.
It is a barbaric act.
"Nagas are opened to reasoning and dialogue.
As one family of the Naga society, killingof our brethren is shameful.
Nagas do not live and act below out dignity to life.
It is time to rise above our grudges and start reasoning to work for understanding and respect for human lives.
Let us remind ourselves today that Nagas across the land must join hands to overcome the game of the divisive forces that slowly destroy our social bond", stated ANSAM.
The Naga students' body then deeply expressed its sorrow and empathy to the bereaved family members, dear and near ones of the deceased.
ANSAM also shares its solidarity in prayer to the bereaved family members in such time of sorrow and agony.
"May the living almighty God solace and comfort you to overcome this moment with the divine inspiration may the departed soul rest in peace," condoled the ANSAM.
