Army personnel into two separate operations arrested a PLA cadre and an over ground activist for supplying medicines to various UG camps in Manipur, informed a PIB statement.
The over ground activist who had been held on charges of supplying medicines to UGs has been identified as one Nado Kumar owner of pharmacy at Tiddim Road Churachandpur.
The same shop was raided by State police personnel in 1998/99 for supplying medicines to UGs.
In the second operation, a joint team of army and CRPF personnel apprehended a hardcore PLA activist on Jan 24 2005.The arrested PLA cadre has been identified as one Dinesh Singh alias Thabal.
During interrogation, Dinesh disclosed that he had been recently shifted to the Finance Dept and was involved in collecting funds on behalf of the PLA from the Govt employees of Churachandpur dist, added the PIB statement.
Meanwhile, the Assam Rifles authorities have today strongly defended their arrest of two PLA cadres from Sagolmang Village on Jan 21.It further stated that the operation was carried out after receiving specific information and also added that the raid was jointly conducted by AR and police personnel of Lamlai PS.
