A resurgent India is celebrating its 56th Republic day on Jan 26 2005.This year's parade will witness some of the achievements in various fields.
The highlight of the show will be our country's military prowess.
T-90 tanks, 105 mm Indin Light Field Gun, Agni-I and Agni-II missiles, Tunguska Air Defence Weapon System, MAT Ground Surface Class 70 on TATRA Vehicle used for track improvement near bridge sites and in water crossings, Hydrema demining vehicle, Mobile Satellite Terminal, ZU 23 mm Twin Gun mounted on TATRA Vehicle, Infantry Combat vehicle-BMP-II and Advanced Light Helicopter, Dhruv will be some of the major attractions of this year's Republic Day parade., said a PIB (DW) press hand out.
The parade will commence at the Amar Jawan Joyti at India gate where the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will lead the nation in paying homage to the martyrs by laying wreath.
An eternal falme burns at the Amar Jawan Joyti to commemorate the indomitable courage of our armed forces personnel who made the supreme self sacrifice for the motherland.
The Amar Jawan the immortal soldier, is symbolised by a reversed rifle topped by a helmet.
As per the tradition President APJ Abdul Kalam will atke the salute.
King of Bhutan Jigme Singye Wangchuk will attend the function as the chief guest.
He will be accompanied by crown prince Dasho Jigme Gesar namgyal Wangchuk.
The marching contingent will consist of personnel from the army, navy and the air force.
Tableaux from 22 States and Central ministries and Departments will present the varied historical, architectural and cultural heritage of the country.
