The one day HIV/AIDS training programme jointly organised by Lions Club of Bishnupur and District AIDS Committee, Bishnupur was held at Thinungei Panchayat Hall with Thinungei GP pradhan Kshetrimayum Sorojini Devi and Lions Th Maipak Singh as the chief guest and president respectively.
The training programme was attended by around 32 community leaders.
As resource persons of the one day session, Dr Th Premchand Singh (District AIDS Officer) and Dr Ng Jayenta Singh (Senior Medical Officer) lectured at length on origin of the disease, who the disease gets transmitted from one person to the other as well as on precautionary measures.
Meanwhile, artistes of Paradise Theatre, Wangkhei Lourembam Leikai staged plays at various areas of Saikul sub-division from January 15 as part of the HIV/AIDS awareness campaign.
The awareness campaign being held under the theme of 'Women, Girls and HIV/AIDS' will continue till January 28.The campaign is being held under the auspices of Song and Drama Division, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (Govt of India) and National AIDS Control Organisation.
On the other hand, the New Generation Service Agency (NGSA), Bishnupur and District AIDS Committee, Bishnupur jointly organised a one-day youth leaders training on HIV/AIDS today.
In all 31 youths took part in the training programme.
A similar training programme for the community leaders was held at Kakwa Bazar on January 22 and it was attended by 28 persons.
