Imphal, January 05: In view of large scale abnormal growth of electors re- ported in some polling stations during the ongoing Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls, 2005, the Election Commission of India has directed re-verification of electoral rolls where such abnormalities have been detected.

Abnormal growth rate of electors have been report-ed in some polling stations of Assembly Constituencies like 17-Lamsang, 27- Moirang, 42-Tengnoupal, 47-Karong, 48-Mao, 49-Tadubi, 46-Saikul, 50-Kangpokpi and 51-Saitu.Acting on the directives of Election Commission of India, State Government has taken up steps for conducting physical verification of the electoral rolls of the said polling stations.

Accordingly a team of officers drawn from/posted in the district other than those where the abnormalities have been detected will be sent to the said areas.
