Manipur University's Vice Chancellor Dr N Bijoy Singh will resume office and carry out official works from Jan 10 from his residence as he is still recuperating from the bullet injury.
He would however attend office physically once he is fully fit; a highly placed source in Manipur University told The Sangai Express.
Mention may be made here that Dr Bijoy and Registrar Dr RK Ranjan were shot on their legs by cadres of the proscribed underground outfit KYKL in the wee hours of December 18, last year on charges of indulging in malpractices in appointing the Director of Audio Visual Research Centre.
RK Ranjan is currently undergoing treatment at the private ward of RIMS while Dr Bijoy has recently been discharged after full recovery, the source also said.
Acting on the advice of the Chancellor, Dr SS Sidhu who is also the Governor of the State, an emergency syndicate meeting of the varsity was convened on December 24 in which the matter was discussed threadbare.
Another syndicate meeting was also convened on December 31, the source added.
Sources also said that construction of the second floors of Humanities block, Life Sciences and other new constructions including three lecture halls among others are likely be completed within the current financial year and added that the university is yet to receive any official intimation from the Ministry of Human Resource Development in connection with the proposed conversion of MU to the status of a Central University.
