The Dimapur Meetei Union, Dimapur, today made an appeal to the people of Manipur to help construct the Manipur Rest House at MSRTC complex, Dimapur.
The Union is organising a Lottery on March 25 to raise fund for the construction of the Rest House.
Binod Khaba, Secretary, Dimapur Meetei Union, in a press conference held at the Press Club, today, said that a rest house in Dimapur will be of help to every Manipuri sports persons, students, journalists, passengers and others by providing them with food and shelter.
The foundation stone of the rest House was laid by the Minister of Planning and Urban Development, government of Nagaland, on Jan 25, 2002 but only the ground floor has been completed at the cost of Rs 7 lacs.
The total cost for the completion of this three-storied building is estimated to be Rs 67 lacs.
The Union complained that so far none of the ministers from Manipur donated any amount, whereas the Nagaland Planning and Urban Development Minister had donated Rs.1 lac towards the cost of the Rest House Construction.
The leaders of the Union today met the Secretary to the Governor of Manipur in connection with the Rest House construction and the Secretary donated a sum of Rs 10,000/- to the Union.
