The proscribed RPF has today unmasked the identities of those involved in selling off 7 truckloads of rice meant for Manipur at Dimapur and claimed that all have admitted to their misdeeds and promised to pay for the rice sold off earlier.
In a statement, the outfit said that the 7 truckloads of rice were meant to be transported to the FCI godown at Sangaiprou after it was lifted from the Dimapur godown.
However the culprits sold off the rice at Dimapur to a shop, Jain and Sons.
The main man behind the scam is an SO in the PWD, said RPF and identified him as Laishram Itocha of Khurai and posted at Kangpokpi.
The others include Itocha's younger brother Jiban and the owner of the vehicle Danil from Sekmai.
Four employees of the FCI godown in charge and two weight in charge are also involved in the murky dealings, added the outfit.
The contract work for transporting the rice was awarded to FCI Transport contractor M/S Northern Agency and the rice was sold by the persons named without the knowledge of the supply firm, said RPF and accused the culprits of trying to pass on the blame to the firm.
Elaborating, RPF said that the godown shed in charge, M Joykumar of Malom issued the chalan stating that the rice has been delivered for three trucks, though the same was sold off at Dimapur earlier.
Store keeper K Kuber of Malom also issued the chalans that two trucks have delivered the rice at shed number 5 and 6, though no rice was delivered.
Dhiren of Haobam Marak Irom Leikai who is in charge of shed number 3 and 4 also issued chalan for one truck though no rice was delivered, said RPF.
The other involved in the scam is named as Th Dhanakumar in charge of shed number 1 and 2.All the accused except L Itocha surrendered to the RPF today, said the statement adding that Itocha could not personally come as he is indisposed presently.
However he has also admitted to his crime.
