Imphal, January 05: To prevent any sort of procedural lapses while carrying out eviction drive in the city, the State Govt will now carry out the remaining eviction drive under the "Town and Country Act", informed a source.

Mention may be made here that the State Govt had been carrying out eviction drive in and around the city with an aim to expand the major roads.

Sources informed that a slight modification would also be done on the resolutions passed by the committee set up by the Govt in connection with the road expansion programme and further said that all works under taken for the road expansion project under the Town and Country Act will be finalised by the PDA as it is responsible for finding out the volume of the traffic for the expansion of the particular road.

Informing that there had been some minor procedural lapses on the part of the Govt while carrying the road expansion programme, the source said that all future works taken up in connection with the road expansion programme would be done according to the "Town and Country Act".

Sources also said that strict actions would also be taken up against all Government officials found issuing fake pattas to illegal encroachers after necessary probe.
