Imphal, March 05:
The Governor Arvind Dave today said in a Yaoshang message, "The festival of colours "Yaoshang" has once again arrived with the onset of spring, which marks rekindling of the spirit of life.
Fresh leaves sprout on trees; the mustard flower is in full bloom and gardens and parks present a variety of colours.
It gives me great pleasure in extending my heartiest greetings to the people of Manipur on this joyous festival.
Celebrated with gaiety, enthusiasm and due solemnity, it makes us forget our differences.
It also promotes a sense of communal harmony and friendship.
On this auspicious occasion, let us pledge to maintain peace, communal harmony and brotherhood among the people of Manipur, cutting across the barriers of caste, creed and religion".
The Chief Minister said, "I extend my sincere greetings and best wishes to the people of Manipur on the auspicious occasion of Yaoshang the festival of colours.
Yaoshang, the principal festival of Manipur, is a festival of joy and reconciliation.
The festival offers and opportunity for us all to set aside our differences and to come together to rejoice life.
The spirit of love, harmony and friendship is what is emphasized by Yaoshang.
The message of Yaoshang is very relevant today when the prime need of the hour in our state is peace and harmony.
I pray that Yaoshang will bring peace and prosperity our people in Manipur.
