In connection with monetary demand, unidentified armed person shot a driver cum owner of a mini van on both his legs at Paobitek under Wangoi Police Station of Imphal West District today morning.
The driver as well as the owner of the mini van (Tata Magic) MN-01W/6715 identified as Pukhrambam Subashchandra (28) of Pukhrambam Mamang Leikai was shot at by two unidentified armed youths who came on a Honda Activa scooter at Paobitek parking at around 8.30 am today.
Two bullets, one each on his thighs were pumped in by the attackers.
Subashchandra has been admitted to the surgery ward of RIMS.
Though the the bullets did not touch the bones, the doctors are examining whether any of the important veins have been affected or not.
Talking to mediapersons at RIMS, Subashchandra informed that after the passengers he brought from Wahengbam Leikai alighted, he was parking the Tata Magic at Paobitek parking when the two armed youths approached him asking which of the vehicle was from Pukrambam and who was Subashchandra.
When Subashchandra identified himself, the armed youths demanded to know why he has not paid the money.
To this, Subashchandra explained that he has not got the permit from the side of the Association and has been thinking of paying the money on getting the permit.
Not long after that one of the youths whisked out a pistol and shot at him.
Subashchandra said that around a month back, one UG group had served demand note to the Kyamgei Diesel Auto and Tata Magic Association but he did not know which group it was.
In order to arrange the money, each of the Tata Magic contributed Rs 1,300 .
Subaschandra suspected that he may have been targeted for not contributing his amount.
