For the first time in the North Eastern States, tele-education service has been launched in five schools of Manipur simultaneously from today.
The five schools are CC Higher Secondary in Imphal East, TG Higher Secondary School in Imphal West, Chaoyaima Higher Secondary School in Thoubal , Bishenpur Higher Secondary in Bishnupur district and Ukhrul Higher Secondary School in Ukhrul district.
Education Minister L Jayantakumar launched the service during a function at TG Higher Secondary School in the presence of MLA Ibohalbi, MLA Ng Bijoy, MLA Prithiviraj and officials of the Education Department.
Speaking at the occasion, Jayantakumar hoped that tele-education service would help the students of the State in competing at the National level examinations be it engineering or medical studies.
He explained that initially the service would be extended to only science students in XII standard including those who have appeared class XII examination and who got highest mark in Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
Only 30 students would be selected in each class which would be conducted twice daily.
The morning class would be from 8.30 am to 10 am and the evening class from 2.30 pm to 4 pm.
Acknowledging that erratic power supply is a major problem in Manipur, the Minister, however, assured that generator would be used to ensure interrupted power supply during the conduct of classes.
Informing that Rs 1000 would be charged from each of the students, the Minister explained that the charge is to make to take their classes seriously and the amount is refundable.
The Minister advised the students to take active participation and asked any question if they have any doubt during the interactive session.
