Ukhrul, August 30 2010:
A day-long State level seminar on 'Conservation of Bio-resources � The need of the hour' with special reference to Ukhrul was held at Pettigrew college here today.
The programme was organized by Pettigrew College in collaboration with BEE-NET Manipur under the sponsorship of UGC.
Assistant Commissioner of Ukhrul, TS Shimreingam graced the function as chief guest and Pettigrew College Principal Mashun Stone as the president in the inaugural function.
Imphal College Lecturer L Somorjit Singh spoke on the topic, 'Value of Biodiversity' while Pettigrew College Lecturer Dr Ersilia Jajo devled into the topic, 'Aquatic Microfauna � Importance and need for conservation with reference to Ukhrul'.
Retired Proffesor of DM College of Science, Dr Shamungou Singh spoke on Wildlife of Manipur with special reference to Ukhrul and its conservation strageties.
