Imphal, September 05, 2009:
President of Chandel Naga People's Organisation (CNPO) St Victor Nunghlung described as very unfortunate and incorrect report published in The Sangai Express that quoted representatives of Chandel-based NGOs not ruling out possibility of the two Chandel district MLAs scheming removal/transfer of the Deputy Commissioner Devesh Deval.
With reference to the report, the CNPO president said 'this was not part of the memorandum submitted to the Government and is not clear how such erroneous thing happened'.
Recounting that a meeting convened by the District Administration was well attended by all including the MLAs and discussion was held in a very cordial manner, he also informed that there was no furore in any meeting or any interference in execution of welfare schemes.
The CNPO statement also conveyed that both the MLAs are dear to the people of Chandel and there is no doubt both would continue to work for peace, harmony and development in the district.
On the other hand, he said as deadline set to the State Government to stay the transfer order of Devesh Deval had lapsed today (September 5) without any positive response, civil society organisations/NGOs of Chandel district will launch an indefinite sit-in-protest at DC's junction in the district headquarters from September 7 onward till the demand is honoured.
