Imphal, September 05, 2009:
The Working Committee of the Apunba Lup (WCAL) has alleged that Chief Minister O Ibobi is taking the role of Cambodia's Pol Pot and turning Manipuri into Mai Lai massacre field.
A press release issued by the WCAL termed the atrocities committed against protesters who demand the ouster of Ibobi from his post and punishment of guilty police commandos as unfortunate.
It asked whether such atrocities are to be committed to the citizens of the land.
It urged to think whether the public of the state would mourn the death of the CM as is the case of Andhra Pradesh.
The statement charged Ibobi of turning the 'land of jewel into the 'land of killing field.
It noted that Ibobi is unique as compared with his counterparts of the North East.
It wondered how Ibobi wept when migrant labourers were killed in the state and how he reacted to the killing of a reformed UG and a mother.
The statement alleged the Police of arresting innocent people and accepting money for their release.
It asserted that the Khwairamband incident had occurred when the police commandos tried to check a person who is under the protection of the Army.
It said that the incident occurred due to lack of understanding between the UG group and the police commandos.
The UG group which has maintained close relationship with the Ibobi regime is enjoying free movement in the market area.
They would not be arrested or killed, it said.
Coming down on the opposition parties, the Apunba Lup statement pointed out that the opposition parties are making promises seemingly in the interest of getting votes.
It further asked the MLAs whether they are right or the people are right.
It also appealed the people not to cooperate the MLAs who extend support to Ibobi.
