Increasing the number of security forces in the name for curbing insurgency will not able to bring development in the state, said CPI (M) MP, Ramchandra Dom who spoke to the media persons today before concluding his two day visit in the state.
Ramchandra Dom, CPI(M) MP who arrived in Imphal today on his two day visit to take stoke of prevailing situation of the state in the wake of people agitation against July 23 fake encounter has left Imphal today.
Speaking to the media persons, Ramchandra said the suffering of the people of the state is not in facing the insurgency but by the extra-judicial killing by the security forces in uniform.
Any problem had solved by armed in the history.
Centre and state government must review recruitment of bulk of security forces, he demanded.
He further said that he could see the suffering of the people of the state clearly during his stay in the state.
The draconian laws in force in the state are keeping people under heavy blow.
He will bring up the matter of repeal of the AFSPA to the floor of the Parliament again.From his observation from various angles, he came to know that Ch Sanjit and Th Rabina in fake encounter by the police commandos.
So, government should take up appropriate action against the erring police personnel who involved in the shooting without classifying its ranks, Dom demanded.
The killing of a youth and a young pregnant woman in the broad daylight, that too in the crowded market are is most shocking incident.
Government should find the truth behind the incident conduct trial for befitting punishment to the culprits involved in the crime, Ramchandra demanded.
He said, on getting the information, CPI(M) brought up the matter to national political arena.
Apart from this, the party drew the attention of the House of Parliament and pressed to constitute a high power house committee to find out the culprits and award appropriate punishment to them.
"We understand that Manipur is hit by insurgency as like some other parts of the country.
But, if killing innocent people in the name of curbing insurgency will amount to increase the problem instead of bringing end," he said.
In the name of counter insurgency, many civilians are killing in the state.
Unable to bear with the excessive acts of the security forces, women of the state are coming out as government is depriving rights of the people, he added.
Chief minister is responsible for all such instances but chief minister and Congress party is remaining silent on the matter and trying to divert the matter, he alleged.
In the state of Manipur having only 24 to 25 lakh populations why there are seven to eight unemployed youths.
This showed that Union government is neglecting the state.
The government is depriving the rights of people.
The only way to safe the state from this situation is the strengthening of democracy, he observed.
