A healthcare centre in Imphal east district, remaining closed since it was closed down on December 30 last by some unknown persons, opened today by breaking the padlock by a team of Lamlai police.
The Swambung Primary Health Centre has been remaining closed since the last four days after some armed miscreants forcibly taken away keys of the padlock after locked down from the chawkidar.
A team of Lamlai police led by its OC broke the padlock to resume normal service at the health centre today, reports said.
Police came to know the locking down of the centre after staffs lodged a complaint today at about 1 pm.
Lamlai police swung into action immediately on receiving the information complaint and broke the padlock.
State health minister, Ph Parijat also arrived at the place to take stoke of the situation at the healthcare centre.
He held discussion with the staff of the centre with regard to the locking down of the centre.
He blamed the staffs for not passing the information him or to the police about the locking down on time and giving away of the keys to the miscreants easily.
Later, speaking to media persons, Pairjat said authority took seriously to the force closer of the health centre which is very important for the residents of the surrounding areas.
The act is like doing with an intention of giving harassment to the people of the area.
He also expressed willingness to know whether it was handiwork of underground elements and observed that it will better not to do such thing which would directly hit to the people.
The centre is a life saving centre.
Not to lodge complaint on time to the police is a sign of negligence on the part of the staffs of the PHC and MO in-charge.
The centre has 15 regular staff.
Staffs of the centre suspected the closer related with percentage demand from the monthly salaries by a group of militants.
Sometime back, there was an instant of one Challamba of PREPAK outfit serving demand percentage from their salaries, staffs revealed.
After the incident, some armed miscreants took away the keys of the centre from the chawkidar, G Misipao forcibly at gunpoint on the night of December 30.That was why, staffs suspect monetary demand behind the locking down of the centre.
