IGAR (S) Major General CA Krishnan visited battalion HQ of 29 Assam Rifles at Tengnoupal on December 31 and interacted with the troops and local children.
He also presented gifts to the adopted children of 29 Assam Rifles at the occasion.
Speaking at the occasion, the Major General emphasised on the importance and role of youth in leading the State to the direction of peace and prosperity.
During the visit, the Major General was accompanied by Commander of 26 Sector Assam Rifles Brig SK Bhanot.
In another occasion, 29 Assam Rifles provided administrative assistance like sweets, medicines and sports items by distributing them to the villagers of Khongkhang, Lokchao and Chamol villages yesterday.
On the other hand, 21 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) provided assistance to accident victims namely, James and Y Surajkanta, a child who met with an accident near Tuheidabi of Thoubal district at around 2.30 pm on December 30 .
The injured victims were brought to the unit hospital if 21 Assam Rifles by the Officiating Commandant of 21 Assam Rifles who fortuitously was passing by the accident spot with his convoy.
James had severe head injury with internal bleeding and multiple lacerations and the child had injuries on his face and was in trauma.
Basic life support was given to the patients by the Medical Officer and other medical staff of 21 Assam Rifles and on regaining some stability, they were referred to RIMS for further necessary treatment and management.
