Power dept collects over Rs 70 lakh during revenue drive

Altogether, a sum of Rs 72,88,787 has been collected as power revenue during a drive undertaken by the Electricity Department with the help of security personnel of Imphal East and Imphal West from January 15 to February 3. According to a statement issued by the Electricity Department, the drive was conducted in some places under Imphal Electrical Division No 1 (Sub-division No I and II) including Keishampat Junction, Thouda Bhabok Leikai, Kwakeithel Moirangpurel/ Laishram Leikai/ Thokchom Leikai/ Akham Leikai, Irom Pukhri Mapal/ Khagempalli/ Keishamthong/ Elangbam Leikai, Pishum Ningom Leirak, Haobam Marak, Konjeng Leikai, Mongsangei, Paona Bazar, Thangal Bazar, Deulahlane, DMC Campus, North AOC, Ragailong, Namdunlong, New Checkon, Palace Compound/Mahaballi.
The department has also disconnected power from 51 household consumers who did not clear their dues.
At the same time, 5 illegal consumers have also been handed over to the police.
Legal proceeding has also been initiated against the illegal consumers, it stated.
