Imphal, November 27 2009:
Manipur Nursing Council (MNC) has appealed to the intending nursing students and their parents to find out the credibility of the nursing schools/institutes before seeking admission.
Addressing a press conference in his office chamber at Lamphelpat here today, Director of State Health Services Dr W Motilal, who is also the president of Manipur Nursing Council said that the intending students and their parents should find out whether the nursing /school/institute is recognised by the Indian Nursing Council and Manipur Nursing Council before seeking admission.
Explaining that need for verifying the nursing institutes before seeking admission, Dr Motilal said that any nursing schools which have been set up under the guidelines of the Indian Nursing Council should have the no objection certificate from the Indian Nursing Council as well as the Manipur Nursing Council.
Because the examination of the nursing schools is to be conducted by Manipur Nursing Council which would also issue the registration numbers to the students who have completed the course successfully.
Issuing of registration numbers can be possible only if the nursing schools concerned are recognised by the Indian Nursing Council and the Manipur Nursing Council.
So to avoid any problem at the time of giving examination, the intending nursing students and their parents should find out whether the nursing school is recognised or not, Dr Motilal said.
Member of Manipur Nursing Council Radharani, who was also present during the press conference, pointed that mushrooming of nursing schools without any due recognition from the Indian Nursing Council or the Manipur Nursing Council and basic infrastructures has become a cause of concern for the career of many students sincerely wanted to work in this field.
She further informed that there are in all 8 recognised nursing schools in Manipur where GNM course is being offered.
These are School of GNM, Shija Academy of Nursing School, School of Nursing (RDO), Kangleipak Nursing Institute, Bethesda School of Nursing, Nightingale Nursing Institute, School of Nursing and Irengbam Thamcha Nursing Institute.
Besides this, there are 13 nursing schools where ANM training is being provided, Although all 13 have been recognised by the Manipur Nursing Council, 7 of them are yet to be granted recognition by the Indian Nursing Council, she added.
