Troops of the Red Shield Division launched a specific operation and successfully rescued one Kishorjeet (48) s/o Olamba of Moirang, from the clutches of his abductors.
Kishorjeet, a tourist bus driver was rescued by troops of 36 Assam Rifles on February 10, said a PIB (DW) release adding that the vehicle operates under Netwark Travel agency.
Soon after information was recieved about his abduction from Ningthoupham area a massive search operation was launched by the police for rescuing the individual, the PIB release maintained.
On being conveyed about the incident, further extensive searches were launched by Senapati Brigade and troops of 36 Assam Rifles finally who rescued the individual from a house in KPI, Ward No 9, where he had been detained by the UGs.
Two UG cadres namely RK Lainsingh (32) s/o Achou of Imphal and Basantha (36) s/o L Ibopishak also from Imphal were apprehended along with one 9 mm country made pistol and two live rounds.
Both the UGs along with recoveries are being handed over to the police, it added.
