Governor calls on CM ahead of meeting with PMO

The strength of the Special Security Guard protecting the state Chief Minister is likely to be increased as DIGP of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) RR Saha is arriving here in Imphal tomorrow.
On the other hand, Chief Minister, O Ibobi today called on the Governor, Gurbachan Jagat to brief him on the progress of implementation of the projects under the Prime Minister�s Package to the state in which the later will brief to the Prime Minister Office (PMO).
Official sources said that the DIGP of the CISF which the SSG guarding the state Chief Minister, O Ibobi is arriving tomorrow to Imphal to examine the deployment of SSG at the Chief Minister�s Bungalow.
His visit is reportedly related with the increase of the manpower of the SSG stationing at the CM Bungalow.
Based on his assessment with regard to the accommodation facilities provided to the SSG personnel and equipments, the DIG will hold meeting with the CM and other top ranking officials of the state government on possible increase in the manpower, the source added.
The DIPG will be camping in Imphal till February 14.Ahead of the meeting with the DIGP, Chief Minister, O Ibobi this late evening held a meeting with the state DGP, Y Joykumar and discussed on the matter, the source said.
Meanwhile, Governor Gurbachan Jagat is leaving Imphal for New Delhi tomorrow to attend meetings with the officials of the PMO to discuss on the progress status of the PM Package 2004 in the state and fund award of the 13th Finance Commission to the state of Manipur, an official source said.
In the meeting held this afternoon at the Raj Bhavan, Chief Minister briefed the Governor on the progress of implementation of various schemes taken up with the PM Package including that of Tipaimuk Dam and Loktak Down Stream Projects for power generation in the state.
Mention may be made that Chief Minister held a series of meetings with the officials of the state government as well as Central government with regard to the two projects yesterday.
The foundation stone of the Loktak Down Stream Project was laid down by Union Minister of Power on 16.12.2006.Subsequently, immediate action was taken and draft MoU, prepared on the basis of minutes of PIB Meeting, to be signed between NHPC and Government of Manipur for the formation of joint venture was sent to Government of Manipur vide letter dated 8.2.2007 which was also discussed in the meeting convened by Chief Secretary, Government of Manipur on 10.5.2007 at Imphal.
Since then correspondence has been going on in this regard.
