As the dry season progresses, fear of water scarcity in Manipur is in the air.
Most of the rivers passing through Imphal city are getting dried up quickly.
The river flows with a small stream at several places.
The small stream is also bound to be dried up in a few days.
The Imphal river at Hatta Minuthong area remains usually copious with its water flow.
But at this time of the winter season, even the river bed in this area gets exposed in the sun.
A large number of people throng the Imphal river in that area daily and wash clothes, utensils, take bath, etc.
in the small stream using soap and detergent powder, which dirty and pollute the river water.
However, the Imphal river being one of the few most important source of water for drinking, several water supply schemes located at North AOC, Ningthme Pukhri Mapal, Singjamei Chinga Mathak, Khongman Okram Chuthek, Saikhom Leirak, Kiyamgei, etc.
