Imphal, February 11, 2010:
Former Chief Minister and Rajya Sabha Member RK Dorendra has resigned from BJP State unit and joined Trinamool Congress, Manipur Pradesh.
RK Dorendra tendered his resignation letter to the BJP State unit president today.
On being enquired by The Sangai Express about his resignation from BJP, Dorendra avoided any direct answer.
He only said that he would like to be free for sometime.
Incidentally, Trinamool Congress Manipur Pradesh was set up very recently on January 29 during a one day visit of Trinamool Congress MP Dr Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar to Imphal.
According to information received from Trinamool Congress, RK Dorendra and ex-MP Kim Gangte have been appointed convenor and co-convenor in order to build up the fledgeling party.
Either one of them may be appointed president of TC Manipur Pradesh after three to six months based on their performance.
During his visit to Imphal, MP Dr Kakoli appointed NJ Hoinu Misao and Sumatibala Ningthoujam as co-convenors of Trinamool Mahila Congress Manipur Pradesh.
However, ex-MP Kim Gangte said that she was appointed as a joint convenor together with RK Dorendra, not as co-convenor.
She would address a press meet tomorrow.
