Lions Club of Imphal East and Lions Club of Leimarol Imphal in association with United People�s Administrative Council, (UPACO), Thoubal organised a one-day mega health camp at Sekmaijin Bazar Community Hall for providing medical coverage to the flood affected people of Sekmaijin and its surrounding villages today.
Assisted by around 20 paramedical staff, a team of 15 doctors including 10 specialists of different specialities conducted medical check up of nearly 1500 patients from various places like Santhel, Hangum, Sekmaijin, Uchiwa, Phaobakchao, Komlakhong, Tera, Wabagai, Hiyanglam, etc.
Medicines worth Rs 35,00 have also been distributed freely to the needy patients.
Talking to mediapersons on the sidelines of the mega health camp, senior Paediatrics doctor of JN Hospital A Naranbabu informed that although the health condition of the children examined during the camp were not so serious, many of them have symptoms of skin diseases, diarrhoea, viral fever, whopping-cough and other associated disease of the post-flood.
A specialist in the blood testing section informed that out of 64 children on whom haemoglobin test had been conducted, 23 of them are anaemic with low haemoglobin count.
Gynaecology specialist Dr Bilashini informed that many of the women patients who turned in the camp came to consult problems related to pregnancy, infection, irregularity of menstrual cycle, etc.
But not a single cases of diseases related to the flood have been detected on these women.
