During a cordon and search operation conducted by a combined team of Imphal West and Imphal East commandos at Babupara from 4.30 am to 7.45 am today, one KYKL cadre and one NSCN (IM) activist were apprehended, informed SP Imphal West Clay Khongsai in a press release.
The KYKL cadre identified as Salam Punshi alias Ingocha (30) of Thanga Karang was arrested from the Govt quarter of ex-MLA Salam Ibohal while the NSCN (IM) activist identified as Md Zamir Khan (22) of Bishnupur ward no II was pulled up from the rented house of one Soubam Nirmal (53) of Babupara, added the release.
Another press release issued by the SP informed that two PLA cadres were also arrested by a combined team of Imphal West commandos and troops of 32 AR from Kwakeithel Huidrom Leikai at about 11.30 pm yesterday.
The two PLA cadres are identified as Ningombam Birjitkumar (31) and Ningombam Dhanabir (31), both belonging to Pishum Ningom Leirak.
On the other hand, a combined troops of 32 and 15 Assam Rifles launched a joint operation in general area of Kotlen today and apprehended two cadres of the newly formed outfit, Kuki International Front (KIF).
PRO Assam Rifles identified the arrested KIF cadres as Thangjam (21) s/o Nehkam of Kotlen and Nehkam (50) s/o late Jamthang of Kotlen who is also the founder member of the outfit.
One country made SB Rifle muzzle loaded and five live rounds of AK-47 ammunition have been recovered from them.
In another incident, the PRO further informed that troops of 19 Assam Rifles apprehended three KYKL activists during an operation at Pukhao Khamban area today.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Leibakhao (33) s/o Amuyaima of Pukhao Terapur, Sanamba Laipokpam (22) s/o Lukhol of Pukhao Terapur and Ayekpam Tomba s/o Sanajaoba of Naharup.
One 9 mm pistol and four live rounds of 9 mm have been recovered from their procession.
