The indefinite Tiddim Road blockade which was earlier declared to start from Sept 18 by Kwakta Youth Assn in connection with the issue of Water Supply Scheme at Kwakta has been postponed for the time being., The decision to postponed the agitation was arrived at after signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the representatives of the people of Kwakta Nagar Panchayat headed by Md Abdul Salam, chairperson and Md Abdul Malik, general secretary of Kwakta Youth Assn and the Superintending Engineer of PHED as representative of the Department during a joint meeting at the office chamber of Officer-in-charge of Moirang PS today, general secretary of Kwakta Youth Assn Md Abdul Malik informed in a statement.
Accordingly, both the parties agreed to provide temporary hydrants at suitable locations of Kwakta Nagar Panchayat latest by Oct 10 until any of the three schemes taken up for Kwakta is completed.
As a first priority, it was agreed that the hydrants at Kwakta Farm Leirak would be re-activated within this week and the remaining schemes taken up for Kwakta would be completed latest by March, 2008.
