In continued crackdown on KCP cadres, a joint team of 57 Mountain Division, Manipur Police and Bangalore police have apprehended City Meitei, leader of KCP (Mobile Task Force) faction from Bangalore on January 19 .
According to a statement issued by PRO PIB Defence Wing, on confirmation of the information on the presence of the KCP leader, a team comprising officials of 57 Mountain Division and Bishnupur Police Commandos was sent to Bangalore on January 16 and after establishing liaison with Bangalore police, the hideout of KCP (City Meitei) was identified.
However, since the hideout was in a congested area, covert surveillance of the area was carried out to retain surprise and after confirmation of the exact location of the suspect, he was apprehended at around 8 pm of January 19 with total surprise being maintained.
Further interrogation revealed that the individual is one Naorem Brojen alias James alias City Meitei alias Hoby (32), chief of KCP (City Meitei) and KCP (Mobile Task Force) .
Disclosures by City Meitei also led to the arrest of another cadre of KCP (City Meitei) faction named Naorem Ramesh Meitei (31) from KK Halli at Hennur Road in Bangalore at around 9 pm of the same day.
Details of extortion carried out by City Meitei were recovered from both the apprehendees.
An excellent co-operation and the ability to maintain secrecy till the final stages were the two important facets of this operation which became a possibility due to perfect synergy between the officials of 57 Mountain Division and Manipur Police, the PRO added.
