Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), Senapati in collaboration with SMILE (IGSSS) and NSS Unit of Don Bosco College, Maram organised a district level youth convention under the theme of 'Together for peace' at Don Bosco College, Maram on January 19 .
Attended by 320 NSS volunteers and youths representing different clubs of Senapati district, the inaugural function of the convention had been graced by many important dignitaries including SDO Paomata Luckyson Kashung, MSC; president of Naga Women Union, Manipur, Grace Shatsang; principal of Don Bosco College, Maram Fr Jose Palely; District Youth Co-ordinator of NYK K Kumar Singh; president of Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA) Kuber Peter and finance secretary of SDSA Peter Adani.
In his introductory speech, Fr Jose Palely said that peace is necessary to bring about development in the society.
Speaking at the occasion, SDO Luckyson encouraged the youth to work hard with determination and aim in life.
Having self confidence and acting smart at the righ time to grap the opportunities will being pace and development in the society, he said.
Kumar Singh highlighted about th purpose of the programme and the initiatives taken by NYK for youth.
Grace Shatsang opined that peace should begin from the individual and urged the ytouth to work for peace ad communal harmony in the society.
As part of the National Youth Week (January 12 to 19) observance, a campaign of youth against terrorism and violence had also been conducted during the convention.
The programme ended with a peace rally taken out by the NSS volunteers and youth.
