Imphal, June 17 2010:
The United Committee Manipur (UCM) today said that it has made elaborate arrangements for the observance of the Great June 18 Uprising Day tomorrow at Kekrupat, Kangla here where the last rites of the 18 martyrs of the mass uprising of 2001 were performed.
Over 19 civil organisations, both from hills and valley will participate in the observance which would be marked by a public meeting and offering of floral tributes to the memorial site of the 18 martyrs who sacrificed their lives to protect the territorial integrity of Manipur, said UCM president Yumnamcha Dilipkumar today while briefing reporters.

Announcing the elaborate arrangements made by the UCM with regard to the transportation and traffic arrangements, he appealed to the people to participate in the observance which would start from early morning with prayers to the Almighty.
Like the previous years, UCM is arranging transport arrangement for those who want to participate in the observance from each and every district.
But, prevailing situation of the state, it would not be grand arrangements, he added.
He also said that the gate of Kekrupat where the memorial site situated will keep open from 5 am so as people can able to proceed and pay homage with floral tributes at the memorial stones of the 18 martyrs.
Meanwhile, the All Manipur United Clubs Organisation (AMUCO) is also observing the day as "UnityDay" with a public meeting at THAU ground, Imphal.
Floral tributes will also be given to the photographs of the 18 people who lost their live in the uprising broke out of extension of ceasefire between the NSCN (IM) and Government of India "without territorial limit".
Imphal west district police has also made elaborate traffic regulations for the convenience of the people coming to offer floral tributes at the memorial site as well as coming to attend public meeting.
