In a major clamp down, a special team of the Imphal West District Police and Assam Police apprehended four persons including two top PULF activists and two persons accused of snatching the AK-47 Rifles from the escort of ex-MLA Radhakishore.
They were arrested from Paltan Bazar Guwahati on April 11.All the arrested four persons were paraded before the meida by the SP of Imphal West District Police today.
The two PULF activists are identified as Md Boi alias Keshorjit alias Nawad alias Nasir Khan alias Chandro (33) s/o Md Salamat of Terahei village and Md Abdul Noor alias Danish (33) s/o Md Abdul Jabar of Paobitek village.
Md Boi is said to be the finance secretary of PULF while Md Abdul Noor is the convenor of the outfit.
The other two persons arrested in connection with the snatching of the AK-47 from the escort party of ex-MLA Radhakishore are identified as Huirongbam Iboyaima Singh (30) s/o (late) H Gouro Singh of Singjamei Mayangbam Leikai and Md Rajak (27) s/o late Md Shanouba of Lilong Bazar near Masjid.
Among the two, Iboyaima is said to be a bailed out activist of the proscribed PREPAK.
Talking to mediapersons at the occasion, the SP informed that based on information that the two accused persons involved in snatching the AK-47 Rifles from the escort party of ex-MLA Radhakishore on March 7 last at Babupara have fled outside Manipur and are taking shelter in the neighbouring States, the police have been monitoring their hideouts of the two suspects.
Following a special tip off about the presence of the two at Guwahati, a special team of Imphal West District Police was deputed to Guwahati immediately.
The special team in co-ordinatioon and co-operation with Guwahati Police conducted raid at a hide out at Paltan Bazar at about 3.30 pm on April 11 and apprehended the two.
On the same day, acting on specific information about the presence of some hard core PULF activists, the joint team also raided another hideout at Paltan Bazar, Nepali Mandir and apprehended the two chief functionaries of PULF, the SP informed.
