Along with having called a 24-hour Manipur bandh with effect from 5 am of April 15, the JAC formed in the aftermath of recovering the dead bodies of two youths who have been abducted from Heirok has refused to take back the bodies.
Huidrom Arunkumar alias Moba (25) s/o Ningthem of Heirok Part-II Laishram Leikai and Laishram Tomba (23) s/o Laishram Gopa of Heirok have been reportedly abducted by unidentified persons from Heirok Part-II Laimayum Leikai on the night of March 30 but their bodies were recovered yesterday from Mongpijang village under Sapermeina Police Station.
The decision to call the bandh was arrived at during a meeting of the JAC today.
The meeting held at Heirok Part-II Thokchom Bazar has also resolved not to take back the bodies until and unless the killers have been identified and punishment given to them in accordance to the laws of the land.
While appealing to all the armed persons including police, army and underground activists to restrain from eliminating any arrested person, the meeting also drew attention of the Chief Minister O Ibobi to the frequent incident of abduction and killing taking place in the State as well as for taking up necessary steps to restore peace and normalcy.
