Extending their helping hands, various Naga apex social organisations have voiced their concerns for the affected villagers of the Mapithel dam or Thoubal Multipurpose Project.
United Naga Council (UNC), All Naga Students Association, Manipur (ANSAM), Naga Women Union,Manipur (NWUM) and Naga Peoples Movement for Human Rights-South Sector (NPMHR-South) while issuing a joint statement to Newmai News Network, has said that they fully support the agitations staged by the affected people under the aegis of the Mapithel Dam Affected Villages Organisation (MDAVO).
The affected villagers have been demanding the review of the dam project.
The joint statement signed by KS Paul Leo,Paulring Langhu, Grace Shatsang and Phamhring Sengul said that the construction of the Mapithel Dam or Thoubal Multipurpose Project immediately so that the survival issue of the affected people is respected and develop sustainable livelihood by protecting the rich social-environment around the area.
The affected villagers in huge number resorted to peaceful mass rally in the area yesterday and at the end of the rally held a mammoth public meeting voicing their plights.
