The new commander of 59 Mountain Brigade, Brigadier AK Narula Thursday visited Tamenglong district has and interacted with frontal organisations and also opened a one month Hindi speaking course organised by 11 Assam Rifles.
Brigadier AK Narula who replaced Brigadier Anil Chauhan comes from Tezpur, Assam.
During a half hour interaction, the social frontal organisations narrated the grievances faced by the people of Tamenglong to Brigadier AK Narula.
In reply the commander told the people that the problems could be solved only through peaceful talks and not by fighting.
'We are a peace loving people, we want peace in this region', social leaders told the new commander.
They also told the new commander that the 11 Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Col PS Chhonkar, SM Commandant 11 AR, and the people of Tamenglong had close relations, adding that the people are getting benefit from the military.
Brigadier AK Narula urged the social leaders to guide the youth in a proper way so that they may not get involved in unlawful activities.
Just after the interaction with the local social leaders the new commander opened a one month Hindi speaking course 'called Hindi Speaking Capsule' organised by 11 AR in the Indoor Stadium, Tamenglong District HQs.
As many as 320 students from various schools came to attend the first ever Hindi speaking course in the district.
In his opening address Brig AK Narula, elaborated on the importance of Hindi.
It is the most widely spoken language in India, he said, adding that the people of NE States, where Hindi is not as popular, find some difficulty in communicating and understanding in mainland India.
Col PS Chhonkar,SM,Comdt 11 AR also spoke on the occasion.
He said that Hindi which is a language of love and unity will help people of Tamenglong to communicate more effectively when they go out of Manipur for pursuance of higher studies or job opportunities.
A short press release was issued after the opening ceremony of the 'Hindi Speaking Capsule'.
The release said that the huge response from the people of Tamenglong to learn Hindi is a significant and positive indicator of the people's desire to restore peace, normalcy and alienate the unlawful elements in the area, which had also been adversely affected by insurgent activities in the past.
This noble initiative of 11 Assam Rifles was lauded by all sections of society in Tamenglong, it added.
