Manipur People's Party (MPP) is determined to join in the formation of government in the state after the 2012 general election to the Manipur Legislative Assembly, said party general secretary A Sidam Meetei said today.
Speaking as chief guest in the opening function of a tree plantation programme held at Ibudhou Marjing campus, Heingang in Imphal east district, Sidam asserted that the party had taken a decision not join in the formation of government following the last Assembly election after thoroughly examining the results.
The tree plantation programme was organized by the Heingang Kendra MPP.
He, expected an improvement of party's position and another coalition government after the 2012 election.
The party has taken a firm decision to join in the formation of government, he added.
MPP has already started looking for qualified candidates for forthcoming Assembly election and hopes for improving the party's position is very high, he said.
In his speech Sidam criticized that the present coalition government led by Congress has failed in all respects.
He said that out of 12 ministers including the Chief Minister, only five or six are actually running the government.
Under the SPF rule, people of the state have been reduced to beggers.
Many people not have a square meal in a day.
He said that MPP is the only party in the state that will work for the welfare of the people.
Another general secretary of the party, Y Mangi, speaking on the occasion, said as a regional party, MPP is working tirelessly for the welfare of the people of the state.
The tree sapling planting programme conducted today is a part of the party's effort in the conservation of environment.
The party will conduct awareness programmes on the important of conservation of environment, he said calling to the people to join hands and participate in the environment conservation effort.
Many local leaders of the party also took part in the planting of tree saplings in the campus of Ibuthou Marjing at Heingang hill.
