Vice Chancellor of Central Agricultural University, Imphal Dr SN Puri has been conferred 'Academic Leadership Award' during the Agriculture Leadership Summit 2010 held on September 29 at NASC Complex, New Delhi.
According to a statement, Dr Puri was honoured with the award by Punjab Governor Shivraj Singh, for his 'brave intervention for raising the academic standard of CAU and equal emphasis on all the three facets of the University education, research and extension while taking up developmental activities'.

Dr Puri took the initiative to establish two more new colleges namely College of Agricultural Engineering and Post Harvest Technology, Ranipool (Sikkim) and College of Post Graduate Studies at Umiam near Barapani in Meghalaya, highlighted the statement while attributing effort of Dr Puri for starting post graduate level studies at College of Veterinary Sciences and AH, Selesih (Mizoram), College of Horticulture & forestry, Pasighat (Arunachal Pradesh) and College of Fisheries, Lembucherra (Tripura).
It also informed that performance of students of CAU in the common entrance test for post graduate admission conducted by ICAR was consistently very good for the last two years.
