Manipur police have arrested an officer of its own undergoing training at North East Police Training Academy (NEPA), Shillong on the alleged charge of nexus with the outlaw PLA outfit.
Police arrested the ASI in the followed up action to the arrest of two brothers from Khurai Thangjam Leikai recently after which police recovered parts of SLR from the state consumer affairs, food and public distribution minister, Yumkham Erabot.
The police officer serving in the rank of assistant sub-inspector (ASI) was identified as Chingangbam Premjit son of Ch Kirankumar of Khurai Thangjam Leikai of Imphal east district.
He has been undergoing after joining police recently.
He was picked up from the NEPA, Borapur, Shillong by a team of Lamphel police station of Imphal west district on Wednesday after registering a case of nexus with the proscribed PLA outfit, an official source here said.
He was produced before the CJM court yesterday and remanded to police in the custody for seven day.
Source said that police arrested him following the disclosure made by the two brother selected as constables of the state police department identified as Sagolsem Oken (25) ad his brother Ojit (22) who were also arrested for their alleged link with the PLA.
Following the disclosure made by the two brothers, Imphal west police commandos seized part of an SLR gun from the house of minister, Y Erabot at Khurai Ahongei.
People of Khurai area are alleging hidden agenda behind the report.
