Imphal, October 30 2009:
Six journalists of the state will be honoured on November 1 in connection with the observance of Information and Public Relations Day at the Directorate of Information and Public Relation (DIPR) Complex located at Moirangkhom at 8am, a DIPR release informed.
The Information and Public Relations Day observance will be graced by IPR Minister TN Haokip as the chief guest and Commissioner, IPR, P Bharat will preside over the function.
Six selected journalists of the state will be awarded the Manipur State Journalists' Award on the occasion.
The award carries a citation and Rs 25,000 each, according to the DIPR release.
Brozendra Ningomba, editor of Hueiyen Lanpao (English edition) will receive the Best Editor's Award.
Lukhoi Wangkhem, senior reporter of Hueiyen Lanpao will share the Rural Reporting Award with Dhanabanta Loukrakpam of Poknapham.
Y Nikesh of Ireibak will bag the award on Public Health and Hygiene reporting.
Elangbam Babina of Imphal Free Press and K Beidyajit Sharma of Ireibak will share the award on Human and Child reporting.
The day has been organised to commemorate the appointment of a full-time publicity officer of the Government of Manipur on November 1, 1949 and to disseminate the importance of information and Public relations to the people, it added.
