Major General AK Choudhary, who is the Inspector General of Assam Rifles (South) laid the foundation stone for the office building of Tangkhul Naga Long at Ukhrul town today in the presence of a large gathering comprising of civil dignitaries, functionaries of social organisations and various NGOs.
According to statement issued by PRO IGAR (S), construction of the TNL office building is a long standing dream of people of Ukhrul, which has been further boosted with the Major General offering complete assistance to the civil administration in executing all the developmental projects in time.
Acknowledging that being the apex social organisation of the Tangkhul tribe, the Tangkhul Naga Long has been playing an important role in the welfare and decision making of the Tangkhul people, Maj Gen AK Choudhary also appreciated the good work being initiated by the District Administration and various social organisations to solve the day to day problems of the local population.
calling upon the people to extend all possible co-operation to the civil administration in implementing development works being initiated by the Government and help in restoring peace and tranquillity in the region, the General Officer highlighted that restoration of peace is the first vital step towards developing the region and to ensure a bright future for the coming generations.
Besides expressing gratitude to the IGAR (S) for the generosity in the sanctioning the construction of the office building, TNL president Stephen Angkang in his speech also opined that the Major General's gesture is a tremendous boost to the local people and will help immensely in motivating the locals for speedy development and constructive activities within the region.
Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul district N Ashok Kumar highlighted unfettered goodwill and mutual trust shared between the people of Ukhrul and the Assam Rifles, said the IGAR (S) release.
The DC also mentioned welfare activities being initiated under the respective commands of HQs 10 Sector and 17 Assam Rifles in the area.
