The half-yearly publication of the State Commission for Women, 'Voice of Women' volume V has been released in a function held today at the Medication Hall of Women and Children Development Ashram, Changangei Ucheckon.
The releasing function was graced by former Vice-Chancellor of Manipur University, Prof IS Khaidem, retired District Session Judge, C Upendra and former minister Dr M Nara as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
A book of various poems translated into Thadou-Kuki language by member of the commission, Lhingjaneng Gangte was also released on the occasion.
Prof IS Khaidem wondered whether every individual had seen and interpreted thins on their own taste.
He said people do not care whether their acts have hurt the sentiments of others.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr M Nara said the time has come for the people to brave a united fight for social justice.
He noted that women empowerment will be a far cry in the absence of social justice.
Observing that women have suffered the worst victims of armed conflict situation, retired Judge C Upendra said thousands of women are rendered widows and separated with their children.
He said, even if several Acts against domestic violence have been passed and enacted, the crime is rising.
