Imphal, September 28:
Strongly reacting to the directives of the Kuki National Front to the Kuki public to construct their houses in Turibari area in Senapati district, the Naga Peoples' Organisation has asked the State Government to resolve the issue or to bear the responsibility for any eventuality.
Turibari area located just above Kangpokpi town hilllock along the IT Road under Senapati district is on the boil at the moment.
In a statement, NPO said that Kuki National Front (KNF-P) had forcibly asked the Kuki public to construct their houses in Turibari area and accordingly about 30 houses had been erected so far.
NPO president M Dili said that on September 25 about 30 cadres of the KNF(P) in full combat uniforms were loitering/patrolling around Turibari area which has sent wrong signal to others thereby triggering fear psychosis among the Naga residents in that area.
NPO claimed that the Nagas are the rightful owner of Turibari area but several years ago the Nagas had donated the land to the Nepalis.
The Naga body said that in 1974 the government set up a cattle breeding farm but since the Kukis have started constructing houses in the area at present, the state government should take up action by evicting the erected houses/huts or return the land to the Nagas.
The NPO also urged the state government to resolve the matter urgently or else the former is going to take up its own course of action.
NPO further urged the government to evict all houses/huts erected and built by the Kukis in the area saying that the rightful ownership of the area is the Naga community.
NPO while issuing the statement to Newmai News Network today said that CrPC 144 had been clamped in the area few days ago as pre-emptive measure by the district administration.
