The 24-hour bandh called by the 1997 Primary Teacher DPC Faced Candidates' Association since last midnight along the National Highways 39 and 53 in pursuance of its demand for declaring the results of the DPC conducted in 1997 for recruiting 400 primary teachers evoked mixed response with no impact of the along the National Highway 39 stretch from Imphal to Mao though it did affected normal lives in other parts.

On account of the bandh, there normal passenger bus services remained suspended in Jiri and Tamenglong along National Highway 53.Though there was normal bus service from Imphal upto Pallel along National Highway 39, no vehicles were plied upto Moreh.
Even though the number of passenger buses plying along the National Highway 39 from Imphal to Mao was few in the morning, it steadily picked up as the day progressed.
Tourist buses and other goods laden vehicles from outside Manipur were also brought to Imphal under security escort.
Talking to some mediapersons at Senapati today, secretary of 1997 Primary Teacher DPC Faced Candidates' Association Atom Surchandra has warned of taking recourse to various other intense form of agitations against Government, if it fails to given a positive response to the demand of the Association even after calling the bandh.
