Imphal, November 16 2009:
United Kuki Liberation Army, Military Council, UKLA (MC) has clarified that one Momon Vaiphei, who was reportedly picked up by the Imphal East Police Commandos on November 11 was in no way connection to the organisation.
Although the police claimed to have arrested Momon Vaphei on alleged charge of being a member of UKLA (MC), he was or he is never a part of the organisation nor there is any cadre by that name in UKLA (MC), information and publicity secretary of the outfit Jameson Kuki said in a statement.
He further said that UKLA (MC) is perturbed by the behaviour of some Kuki community based UG groups both under the umbrella of KNO and UPF, who are party to SoO agreement with the Government in disturbing free distribution of Kerosene under PDS in some parts of the hill districts like Sadar Hills in Senapati district.
It is learnt that these SoO groups of UGs are active in disturbing the PDS items meant for people living below poverty line (BPL), Jameson Kuki said, adding that these UG groups are now safe and sound with the security forces with nobody to fear or obey.
If they claim that they are for the people, why should they try to snatch kerosene meant for the people ?, he questioned.
According to the SoO agreement any form of illegal activities is prohibited but in actual sense they did whatever they wish adding more and more burden to the people, Jameson Kuki lamented, adding that now because of them the kerosene for the hill people in some parts of the hill districts could not be distributed to the intended people.
This kind of anti-people activities should be stopped, he added.
While appealing to all the Government officers and office staff in the hills to attend office regularly and be stationed in their respective posting place, Jameson Kuki warned that this request is the last and anybody is not going to their place of posting should ready to bear with their consequences at their own risk.
The standpoint of UKLA (MC) is to deliver justice to the people, Jameson Kuki added.
