The 2nd SDO Crafts Bazar, which will undergo for 10 days, was inaugurated by Chairman, State Planning & Development Authority, MLA Dr Kh Loken as chief guest at Hapta Kangjeibung here today.
The Craft Bazar is being organised by the Social Development Organisation (SDO), Wangkhei Yonglan Leirak under the sponsorship of the Union Ministry of Textile, Department of Handicrafts.
Speaking at the inaugural function, MLA Kh Loken said, in the state handicraft is still attaching to culture and tradition.
In the past, artisans faced a lot of difficulties in seeking markets for their products.
After organising various fairs under the sponsorship of the Union Ministry of Textile, now handicraft products have their own markets in the globe.
Considering the difficulties facing in organizing such fairs, He assured that government would develop a place with necessary infrastructures.
To encourage hardworking people, small scale industries would be upgraded with additional infrastructures.
The SDO was established by one Ph Ranjana in 1998 only with an embroidery machine with the objective of self employment.
Today, with due course of time, SDO could impart job to many people.
In the fair, a total of 150 artisans are participating with their own handicraft products.
