Director General of Police, Manipur has been apprised to initiate appropriate punitive action against personnel of Lilong police station against whom charges had been levelled for snatching two mobile phone handset.
In a petition addressed to the police chief, Chongtham Sanahal Singh (28) s/o Ch Achouba Singh of Khurai angom Leikai and Sagolshem Roshan Singh (25) s/o S Nabachandra of Keishamthong Hodam Leirak said their mobile phone handsets were confiscated by some personnel of Lilong police station.
Apart from threatening to implicate them in some criminal cases relating to UG activities or narcotic drugs after torture, the police personnel demanded Rs 1000 in exchange of the handsets, the two mentioned in their joint complaint which also presented a detailed account of their ordeal experienced today.
They also named three police personnel and conveyed to the DGP that all six personnel involved in mistreating them could be identified.
Urging the DGP to take appropriate action, both desired that their mobile phone handsets be handed back to them.
