Imphal, April 17 2010:
An unidentified person who came asking for the Pradhan of Utlou Gram Panchayat, surprisingly, made life attempt on the Pradhan's younger cousin by shooting at him.
An unidentified person came asking for Utlou GP Pradhan Laishram Rishikanta (42).But the armed person, instead, shot at Laishram Mocha (24) right in his bed room at about 8.45 pm yesterday, said a police source.
It is reported that fathers of Rishikanta and Mocha are brothers.
Though Mocha survived the attack, a bullet that hit him on the right side of the neck exited through the right shoulder.
Now undergoing treatment at Shija Hospital, Mocha is said to be out of danger.

Information culled from the spot said, Mocha, his father Iboyaima, mother Tombi and Manoranjan, another cousin were watching television in his bed room when some one called out Ima, Ima from outside.
As Mocha opened the door, a youngster clad in yellow track suits was found standing in the verandah.
The unidentified person asked Mocha if Pradhan Rishikanta had come back.
Pointing out that Rishikanta's house was the neighbouring one and that he had no idea whether Rishikanta had come back or not, Mocha went inside.
But in the next moment, the armed person fired at Mocha without saying anything, and hurriedly left the scene.
At the time of the incident, most of the neighbouring people were away at Utlou Awang Leikai where a Shumang Leela was being staged.
As the way leading to their house is somewhat long, family members of Mocha could not tell in which vehicle the assailant came or with how many persons he came with.
Mocha was immediately rushed to RIMS, only to be shifted to Shija Hospital as the family members were not satisfied with the way RIMS doctors were handling the situation.
After visiting the firing spot this morning, Nambol police have registered a case.
One empty case of the ammunition of pistol was recovered from the verandah of Mocha's house.
One projectile found under the TV set inside Mocha's room has been handed over to police.
However, Pradhan Rishikanta said that there is no case of monetary demand or threat from any UG group nor personal animosity with anybody.
Taking strong exception to the life attempt made on Mocha, local people staged a protest demonstration at the residential gate of Pradhan Rishikanta today.
The protesters asked the concerned UG group to own up and explain the assault.
