A three-day "Peace Training" organized by the Peace Committee of the Manipur Baptist Convention (MBC) kicked off at the conference hall of the MBC at Chingmeirong today.
MLA Ng Bijoy, Hill Area Committee of state Assembly's vice chairman, MLA Khanthuanang Panmei, Board of International Mission's peace consultant Denial Buttry were on the dais in the inaugural function.
Bijoy, speaking on the occasion, asserted that peace has been disturbed in the state due to the selfishness and mean minded ideologies of those who think of their own community or group only.
The only way to bring peace is to follow the ideology that all man are equal, and that there is no difference among the people.
If peace is to prevail, a society can march forward in all respects, he said urging all participating trainees to spread the message of peace to their families, friends and neighbours after the training programme.
MBC general secretary, Rev Vumthang Silthou said that the training programme was being organized with the objective that it will help in bringing peace in the restless society of the state at least to some extent.
He expressed confidence that those who participated in the training programme will surely spread the message of peace to others.
The training programme held in Imphal is a part of an ongoing series which has been held at some other places in the state.
The inaugural function was attended by many social workers and other workers in the field of religion.
A total of 30 persons are participating in the three day training programme.
